| | | Brain Child | Andy Bumatai CDHRI-1022 | |
|
In 1979 the Hawai‘i Academy of Recording Arts created a comedy category. The Hoku Award for Most Promising Artist was presented to a young new comedian named Andy Bumatai for his debut recording "Hawaii's First Stand Up Comic."
That was more than two decades ago, and Andy went on to become one of Hawai‘i's most respected comic talents. Although he's constantly reinventing himself, Andy's first love –and the foundation of his career drive – is stand up comedy. "Brain Child" accurately represents this love and showcases not only Andy's multi-talented approach, but more importantly, his astute observational comedy.

| | | CDP-24 | Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941 | |
|
December 7, 1941 came to be known as the Day of Infamy. Pearl Harbor, where the attack occurred, became a rallying cry to those who fought in the bloody holocaust that followed.
These are the events of December 7 – shocking, frightening, poignant, tragic, unbelievable. Experience the chilling impact of those historic hours, not in dramatization, but largely told by people who were there – those who vividly recall the horror and the chaos. The sounds you hear, evoke a story more engrossing than any fictionalized tale could ever be. The words and the historic photographs that are included, are a segment of America's history that should be known and remembered by people of all ages.

In 1961, Hula Records' Don McDiarmid Jr. recorded funny man Kent Bowman telling Pidgin English Stories for Children. While it may not have been a hit with Hawai‘i's educators, the album was instantly accepted by the masses. Through the years, it has remained in the hearts and minds of those early fans.
